2016

On April 9, Callan presented a workshop on Character Development at the Fred Tarpley Writers' Conference at Texas A & M University, Commerce campus.

On May 24, Callan made an hour and a half presentation on character development to the East Texas Christian Writers' Association in Longview, Texas.

On June 18, there was a Book Launch Party for A Silver Medallion, the second Crystal Moore Suspense novel. The party was hosted by the Pizza Inn in Pittsburg, Texas. An excellent crowd showed up and a good time was had by all. Callan read a short piece from the book. Then, a good friend Bob Hibbard (a profressional actor) read another section. A lot of books were sold. Callan sends thanks to all who attended the event.

On June 26, Callan autographed books at the Half-Priced Book Store on Northwest Highway in Dallas, Texas. The event was be covered by The Dallas Morning News. A few days later, the newspaper ran a story on the signing. It featured a large , four column picture of Callan and the covers of his latest five novels. August 20 found Callan back at the Half-Priced Book Store in Dallas at another book signing.

Throughout the month of September: Callan taught an on-line course on Dialog to the ACFW membership.

October, 2016, Audible released the audio edition of Ove My Dead Body. As with Cleansed by Fire, this audio book is narrated by five-time Emmy Award Winner Jonathan Mmm.


2014

January 18, Callan presented a workshop on How to Write Great Dialog at the Franklin County Arts Alliance Literary Program.

March 7, Callan presented a two hour workshop on How to Write Great Dialog at the Puerto Vallarta writer's conference.

On April 25, Callan will present a two hour workshop on Character Development at the Northeast Texas Writers' Conference in Mt. Plesant, Texas.

On April 26, Callan will present a two hour workshop on How to Write Great Dialog at the Northeast Texas Writers' Conference in Mt. Plesant, Texas.

On May 10, Callan gave a 2 hour workshop on character development at the Bedford Public Library, Bedford, Texas.

On May 12, Callan gave an hour workshop on Character development in Tyler, Texas for the East Texas Writer's Guild.

2013

January 12, Callan presented a workshop on character Development at the Franklin County Arts Alliance Literary Program. There was a nice crowd and they all seemed receptive to the program.

February 22, 23, 24, Callan was invited to be on the faculty for the Puerto Vallarta Writers' Conference. He presented two workshops on Character Development. He also chaired a panel on the Future of Publishing. Both workshops were well received.


2012

May 26, A Real Bookstore, located in Allan, a northern suburb of Dallas, hosted an autographing session for James R. Callan. Callan autograph both his 2012 books, Cleansed by Fire and Murder a Cappella.

June 1, Callan autographed his books at the Pittsburg Library's First Friday program.

October 13, Callan participated in the Mt. Vernon's Fall Festival, autographing books in the library.

October 20, James R. Callan helped celebrate the opening of the new Mt. Pleasant library by signing copies of his two 2012 books.

October 26, Callan partipated in the Wylie College book fair from 2 until 6.

In November, James R. Callan was part of the Mount Pleasant Holiday festival. It was a two day program and he sold a good number of books, almost equally devided between Cleansed by Fire and Murder a Cappella.

In December, Callan was part of the Ben Wheeler Book Fest.


2011

Fall, 2011, James Callan organized a Fall Workshop entitled "Getting Published in Today's Market." He had three top-notch speakers on the faculty. They were:

  • Caleb Pirtle, publisher of Gallivant Books. Caleb is also an author, having more than 50 books published.
  • Rusty Shelton, President and CEO of Shelton Interactive, Inc., a first class pr firm concentrating on promoting books. His clients include Chicken Soup for the Soul, the Harvard Medical School, IBM, Zondervan, and others.
  • Stephen Woodfin, a lawyer for 25 years, and the author of several legal thrillers.
The workshop focused on self-publishing, E-publishing, Small independent press publishing, Social media promotion, Building a digital platform, and Promoting your books.

The workshop attracted a full house and post-workshop comments were very favorable, many saying it was the best workshop they had attended. Helps to have a great faculty.
